Một báo cáo độc quyền tiếp theo của Korea JoongAng Daily (thông qua Naver) tuyên bố rằng khoản đầu tư 3,1 tỷ USD của Samsung Display vào cơ sở sản xuất OLED của họ ở Asan là nhằm tăng cường mối quan hệ với Apple.
Yo Choong-hoon, người đứng đầu bộ phận hiển thị của UBI Research, tuyên bố rằng “khách hàng chính có mối liên hệ đến khoản đầu tư mới chính là Apple.”
Samsung Display hỗ trợ máy tính xách tay OLED của Apple
Bên cạnh việc cung cấp cho Apple tấm nền OLED cho iPad, Samsung Display hiện cũng được cho là đang phát triển các giải pháp OLED cho MacBook trong tương lai.
Apple vẫn chưa phát hành máy tính xách tay OLED, nhưng công ty có thể sẽ làm như vậy trước năm 2026. Và với việc Samsung Display hiện được cho là đang làm việc trên các giải pháp OLED cho MacBook, điều hợp lý là Samsung có thể muốn đầu tư để tăng gấp đôi công suất sản xuất OLED của mình vào năm 2026. Đặc biệt là kể từ khi LG Display không thể đóng góp vì họ đã sử dụng hết năng lực sản xuất tấm nền iPad.
