Kế hoạch cấm bán ô tô động cơ đốt trong vào năm 2035 của EU có thể bị phá sản khi Đức và Ý tuyên bố không ủng hộ.
Mới đây, Bộ trưởng Năng lượng Ý, ông Gilberto Pichetto Fratin tuyên bố nước này sẽ bỏ phiếu chống lại kế hoạch cấm bán ô tô chạy bằng xăng và dầu diesel mới vào năm 2035 của Liên minh châu Âu (EU).
Nếu được Hội đồng châu Âu thông qua trong cuộc họp diễn ra vào tuần tới, kế hoạch cấm ô tô động cơ xăng dầu sẽ chính thức có hiệu lực. Trước đó, các quốc gia thành viên EU đã bỏ phiếu ủng hộ tạm thời đề xuất này vào năm ngoái và Nghị viện châu Âu đã chính thức thông qua vào tháng trước.
Bộ trưởng Giao thông vận tải Đức Volker Wissing cho biết trong một buổi phỏng vấn với nhà đài ARD: “Chúng ta cần nhiên liệu tổng hợp (e-fuel) vì không có giải pháp nào tốt hơn thế nếu muốn đội xe vận tải thân thiện với môi trường. Chúng ta phải cởi mở với mọi công nghệ có thể. Tôi không hiểu ý nghĩa của cuộc chiến chống ô tô này, và tại sao mọi người lại muốn cấm một số công nghệ hữu dụng”.
Cuộc chiến chống lại lệnh cấm ô tô động cơ đốt trong cũng có sự góp mặt của nhiều hãng ô tô hàng đầu thế giới. BMW và Porsche cho rằng ngành công nghiệp ô tô cần phát triển theo hướng da dạng hóa, sử dụng nhiều loại năng lượng, bao gồm cả điện, xăng dầu và hydro. Toyota – thương hiệu ô tô lớn nhất thế giới phản đối kịch liệt kế hoạch của EU khi cho rằng việc chỉ sử dụng ô tô điện sẽ tạo thành thảm họa.
