Theo một số trang tin, gần đây, các cảng biển tại Úc luôn trong tình trạng tắc nghẽn khiến khách hàng phải đợi rất lâu mới có thể nhận xe.
Nguyên nhân là do số lượng xe cần khử khuẩn đã ở mức kỷ lục. Đứng đầu danh sách nhiễm khuẩn là ô tô Trung Quốc.
MG, Great Wall Motors Haval, LDV, BYD, Tesla và Polestar – thương hiệu dưới trướng Volvo thuộc sở hữu của Trung Quốc, là những xe được xuất khẩu sang Úc nhiều nhất.
Đối với những xe nhập khẩu từ các quốc gia khác cũng không ngoại lệ như: Thái Lan với 4.200 xe, Tây Ban Nha với 3.900 xe và Nhật Bản là 3.700 xe.
Cũng xuất khẩu một lượng lớn xe vào nước Úc, nhưng những xe đến từ Hàn Quốc lại không gặp các vấn đề về nhiễm khuẩn và đáp ứng đủ yêu cầu an toàn sinh học của Chính phủ nước này.
Việc khử khuẩn xe không chỉ mất thời gian mà còn gây tốn kém. Theo đó, chỉ cần mất 24 giờ để dỡ khoảng 3.000 ô tô khỏi container, nhưng để khử khuẩn thì mỗi ngày chỉ có thể xử lý được khoảng 150-220.
Số lượng xe phải khử khuẩn lớn dẫn đến tình trạng tắc nghẽn nghiêm trọng xảy ra tại các cảng biển. Theo khảo sát, năm nay người dân Úc có thể phải đợi 131 ngày mới có thể nhận xe , so với chỉ 30 ngày vào năm 2019.
Trước tình hình này, chính phủ Úc phải thường xuyên thúc giục các hãng xe phải làm sạch, đảm bảo đáp ứng đủ yêu cầu an toàn sinh học trước khi được chất lên tàu sang Úc.
